Directions:
Flights: ZIH is the airport servicing this region. It is a small international airport with direct flights from many West coast US cities and one-stop flights from the major East coast US airports, often changing planes in Mexico City. It is about 45 minutes south of Playa Saladita on modern, easy to navigate highway.
Rental Car Agencies: In the airport just to the right outside the customs area you'll find Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz, and Thrifty. You can check online and book using city code ZIH for Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo airport. Soft racks are a good call for smaller rental cars and see if your credit card offers some insurance coverage. Having a car allows you to cruise around for different surf spots, see sites and get food supplies.
Driving From The Airport: Use the map above or this Google Maps link for turn by turn directions: MAP Stop in the Enramada Ilianet when you arrive to let people know you are here.
Taxis: Taxis are available in many different sizes, so check depending upon your luggage and number of passengers. There are two options: You can go to the taxi booth inside the airport area and get a taxi at the set price. Or you can go outside the airport entrance (across the parking lot to the left) and try to negotiate a cheaper rate directly with a taxi driver. Some of the drivers speak English so you can barter a price depending on the season. All taxi drivers know how to get to Los Llanos and Saladita. Stop at a store on the way to get some food supplies. Soriana or Bodega in Zihuatanejo are huge stores, or Super Pati in Los Llanos has probably everything you'd need for awhile.
